"My research consists of analyzing a number of sociologically inclined theoretical perspectives on the collapse of the Soviet Union in an attempt to provide clarity on the topic."
Pavel Vlasov
Sociology master's student in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences
I am an MA student in Sociology, and, outside of reading social theory, I like to play piano and the violin (neither of which I am particularly good at). I received an Associate degree in Sociology from Douglas and transitioned to complete a BA in Sociology at SFU in 2022. In 2023 I am to start my MA in Sociology.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO COME TO SFU?
I always enjoyed the Burnaby and Surrey campus and the accommodations present for students. Additionally, the faculty are very supportive, friendly, and helpful.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR RESEARCH OR YOUR PROGRAM TO A FAMILY MEMBER?
My research consists of analyzing a number of sociologically inclined theoretical perspectives on the collapse of the Soviet Union in an attempt to provide clarity on the topic.
WHAT ARE YOU PARTICULARLY ENJOYING ABOUT YOUR STUDIES/RESEARCH AT SFU?
I particularly enjoy the library and its vast literary catalogue.
