I chose to come to SFU because of its "flexible, multicultural environment as well as high rank of this university among young research institutes of Canada."
Shahriyar Abedinnezhad
Mechatronics doctoral student in the Faculty of Applied Sciences
I joined SFU in the spring of 2021 under my PhD program in mechatronics engineering department. I am currently working on a novel concept in the development of next generation condensers for energy systems.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO COME TO SFU?
Flexible, multicultural environment as well as high rank of this university among young research institutes of Canada.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR RESEARCH OR YOUR PROGRAM TO A FAMILY MEMBER?
An effort to save more energy for future.
WHAT ARE YOU PARTICULARLY ENJOYING ABOUT YOUR STUDIES/RESEARCH AT SFU?
Flexible working hours, respectful behavior between people in the Campus.
HAVE YOU BEEN THE RECIPIENT OF ANY MAJOR OR DONOR-FUNDED AWARDS? IF SO, PLEASE TELL US WHICH ONES AND A LITTLE ABOUT HOW THE AWARDS HAVE IMPACTED YOUR STUDIES AND/OR RESEARCH.
I received entrance scholarship and bursary for summer term. Both of these awards helped me quite a bit to pay off my financial commitments to university and relieve financial stress profoundly to more concentrate on my own project.
