Tell us a little about yourself, including what inspires you to learn and continue in your chosen field
I am an international student who is currently pursuing a master's degree in Canada. Before coming to Vancouver, I completed my Bachelor of Business Administration at IBA, University of Dhaka. My passion for finance grew during my undergraduate years when I participated in several national and international case competitions related to this field. The intricacies of financial management ultimately motivated me to pursue a career in this sector. After gaining around three years of work experience in the banking sector and risk management, I realized it was necessary to further enhance my knowledge in finance and opted to complete my postgraduation in this field.
Why did you choose to come to SFU?
I chose SFU because it is recognized internationally for its academic excellence, diverse programs and research contributions. It's renowned MSc in Finance program is also associated with the CFA curriculum which assists students like myself to better prepare for the CFA certification.
How would you describe your research or your program to a family member?
The MSc in Finance program is comprehensive in nature and is designed in a way that focuses on contemporary knowledge which helps a student to tackle real-world financial problems.

Financial Analysis, Fund Management, Risk Mitigation
How have your courses, RA-ships, TA-ships, or non-academic school experiences contributed to your academic and/or professional development?
The TA-ships that are offered by SFU played a key role in developing my communication and teaching skills. It also helped in networking and allowed me to refresh my knowledge in several topics related to business and finance.
Have you been the recipient of any major or donor-funded awards? If so, please tell us which ones and a little about how the awards have impacted your studies and/or research
I managed to receive Scotiabank Grad Award in Business due to my previous academic excellence. This award has been a significant help towards my financial ability to pursue a postgraduate degree in Canada.
