SFU Graduate Students Form Asian-Indigenous Relations Society, Launch Digital Resource

September 19, 2024

Ty Bryant and Geri Lee, Sociology and Anthropology master’s students, as well as Cynthia Cui, a School of Interactive Arts and Technology master’s student, have co-founded the Asian-Indigenous Relations Society.

The research team and registered society seek to direct far more attention to the rich, countless ways in which Asian-Indigenous relations have shaped Turtle Island, with plans to expand to global perspectives. In a matter of months, the research team has scaled exponentially from the three co-founders to an interdisciplinary working group of over 20 colleagues and community members across 7 institutions and 3 countries.

The first major collaborative effort of the research team is a digital resource, which is home to multi-media publications as well as a resource library featuring over 200 sources regarding local and global instances of Asian-Indigenous Relations.
