The Social Echoes: Learning to Unlearn
Doctoral student Soraya Janus and undergraduates Arianna Sihota, Emma Choat, Jasleen Sidhu, Macaela Bradley-Tse, Abby, and Selena Newman created a capstone presentation, “Social Echo: Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls” for Brenda Morrison’s fourth-year Criminology class.
Together in the Fall, they enrolled in one of Dr. Brenda Morrison's seminars educating them on the Indian Residential School System. Ever since, they have all been inspired to share their information and educate others about the TRC 94 Calls to Action, and sharing their journey on how to become a better ally.
They will also be presenting their work at the Burnaby Festival of Learning on May 6th, 2022 from 11:00AM - 2:00PM.
Read about their multifaceted presentation and how they engaged their peers to honour, listen, and be present in the process. Check out their social media account @thesocialechoes on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter for more information as well.
