Kris Frederickson receives Dean’s Convocation Medal
As one of SFU's most outstanding graduate students from the Beedie School of Business, Kris Frederickson is being recognized with the Dean of Graduate Studies Convocation Medal. On behalf of SFU, we congratulate Mr. Frederickson as well as all Convocation Medal recipients on their outstanding achievements.
Kris Frederickson's Master’s of Business in Indigenous Business & Leadership research explored the innovative use of traditional Indigenous governance structures to advance reconciliation, overcome barriers to economic prosperity, and build green power sources through a private equity model.
With past experience serving as a leader on various boards, Frederickson’s most recent leadership role is the Vice-Chair of the University Of Calgary Board Of Governors. Additionally, he was awarded an Action Canada Fellowship and is a National Indspire Laureate.
SFU Beedie School of Business' Associate Dean, Graduate Programs, Dr. Andrew Gemino states that "Kris is one of SFU's most outstanding graduate students from the Faculty of Beedie Business School."
Dr. Gemino also reflects on the start of Kris's Master's program. "Upon entering the EMBA IBL program, Kris stated that, 'Developing diverse expertise and capitalizing on traditional knowledge and constitutional rights while honouring culture and place will promote more sustainable economic development for Indigenous communities.' Kris is now well-equipped with new tools, resources, and an extensive network to help him affect change with Indigenous communities and organizations."

Kris Frederickson is a Métis sustainability professional and the Manager, Sustainability Disclosure & Stakeholder Engagement at Suncor Energy. He is responsible for helping the company to better understand, improve and disclose environmental, social and governance performance to build trusting relationships with key stakeholders.
