Conclusion

Results

The MCE was successful in locating imaging relative areas that would be most advantageous for Batman to reside. The factors considered were that the area had to have a high average family income making it possible for Batman’s alter ego billionaire Bruce Wayne to blend into the wealthy community. Low population density also was favouable for it ensures a least likeliness for witnesses to Batman’s nightly crusades. Being close to the major water bodies also a factor taken in consideration for water transport accessibility. Being close to the trouble plagued Downtown Eastside is one of the more important factors as well. Further specification was done when an estimation of 200 acre neighborhood sized areas that would be most optimal were found within the MCE result. This process uncovered 4 main areas, two in the Vancouver North Shore district of West Vancouver and another two in the University Endowment Lands. Here the least cost pathways were calculated for each possible 200 acre area using friction road data to Downtown Eastside.

Further Analysis

Further ranking of each of these 4 areas relative to one another requires further analysis which one has to create another ranking criterion. The least cost pathways have to somehow produce a value that can aid to compare against one another. Furthermore, personal preferences and dislikes of Batman must be noted and taken into consideration and another multi-criteria evaluation of such will have to be done.

Errors

One of the major causes of errors in such an analysis is the temporal dynamics and variability of the data. This becomes an issue especially when dealing with road friction, where depending on time of day the friction values will fluctuate according to traffic congestion. Furthermore, depending of the direction of flow of traffic and the slope and aspect of the roads an anisotropic friction analysis would be optimal. Also acquiring of spatial crime data would help in the specification of the main areas Batman should focus upon. In this case a rough generalization of an area was used in the analysis.
