Generally there are certain hotel locations that travellers find more appealing than others. The spatial analysis of hotel locations will take these location factors into consideration. Three main location factors have been taken into consideration: proximity to water, proximity to shops and commercial services, and proximity to industrial land.
Ideal locations for the construction of new hotels would be close to water (ocean/lake/river views), within (or close) to commercial districts for accessibility to shops, restaurants and other services. It is also important to take proximity to industrial areas under consideration. Ideally the further away from industrial areas the more ideal the location.
In addition to these proximity factors, cost of development should be taken into account as well. In the case of this analysis, flatter land is cheaper to build on. Proximity to main roads is less important but it does require some consideration.
As for land that can be built on, I’ve included commercial land, open and undeveloped land and residential land (rural, single family, townhouse/low-rise apartments and high rise apartments. The weights of each land type will be discussed in a later section.
