First Indigenous and Black Graduate scholarship established for SFU biology graduate students - Department of Biological Sciences, July 7, 2021
The Department of Biological Sciences' Graduate Student Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee have established the first student-initiated Indigenous and Black scholarship for graduate students within the department.

On June 17, 2021, FHS assistant professor Travis Salway moderated a conversation with the 2SLGBTQ+ Roundtable, a community-based health research collaborative. This group of investigators and advocates shared stories of resilience in the 2SLGBTQ+ community during the COVID-19 pandemic, and discussed what cues and calls to action the cisgendered heterosexual majority might consider undertaking to be supportive.

Researchers revive endangered Blackfoot language using digital technology - School of Computing Science, June 21, 2021
SFU researchers have created a new online resource to help people learn Blackfoot, an endangered language spoken since time immemorial by First Nations in what is now known as Alberta and Montana. More than 300 SFU computer science students contributed to the initiative, creating web-based chatbots as part of the final project for their undergraduate computer science course CMPT 120 – Intro to CS and Programming.
