Provided here is some information you should know before heading to orientation. There is also a checklist of things you should do before classes start.

Checklist: Be sure to complete all these tasks and be prepared for orientation day!

• Pay your confirmation deposit right away so that SFU knows you should receive registration material. You can pay your tuition at the Burnaby Campus in the Maggie Benston Centre, at Harbour Centre Downtown or at SFU Surrey.
  
  
• Go to Information Evening on Monday June 2, 2003 at 6:30 pm.
  
  
• Sit down and read the first 20 pages of the course timetable and exam schedule that is mailed to you after you pay your deposit. Everything you need to know is in these pages!
  
  
• Receive academic and financial aid advice at a "Blueprints" session June 23 - July 9, 2003. Register at http://www.reg.sfu.ca/ar/blueprints/
  
  
• Register for classes via phone (telereg) or via online registration.
  
  
• Sign up for the "Way to an A" Workshop at http://www.sfu.ca/hccc
  
  
• Enter the Parking lottery for an SFU parking pass by August 8, 2003.
  
  
• Get your SFU email account , textbooks , Library/ID card and gym membership during the first few weeks of the semester.

Doing these will help you be better prepared for your orientation session, and help you stay ahead your first weeks of classes.

On Orientation Day:

On the day of Orientation, please be in the Convocation Mall at 9:00 am on August 28th, 2003. The day will finish around 4:00. The second day of orientation begins at 10:00 am and will end around 4:00 pm. If you drive to campus, parking in B-lot is free for the day. If you take the bus, get off at the first bus stop and go up the stairs. Please bring a pen, a notebook, and your class schedule (go to my.sfu.ca for a class schedule) We will be doing lots of walking so wear comfortable walking shoes and bring a water bottle. Be prepared to spend some time outdoors (rain or shine). Also note that you will have to carry your belongings throughout the day. Please do not be late for orientation! After we meet in the Convocation Mall, we’ll be moving around campus for the rest of the day.
