Kim van der Woerd
Kim van der Woerd is a member of the 'Namgis First Nation from Alert Bay, B.C. Kim founded Reciprocal Consulting in 2003 while in graduate school at SFU. Reciprocal Consulting is an award-winning Indigenous-run consulting firm specializing in program evaluation and research. Kim has over 20 years of experience conducting local, provincial and national program evaluations managing over 170 projects.
Kim completed her PhD in psychology at SFU. Her dissertation was the recipient of the Michael Scriven Dissertation Award for Outstanding Contribution to Evaluation Theory, Methodology or Practice. She also received the Canadian Evaluation Society Contributions to Evaluation in Canada Award in 2014 for her mentorship of Indigenous students.
More recently, Kim has received the 2018 BC Achievement Foundation Community Achievement Award, and the 2018 BC Achievement Foundation Mitchell Award. Reciprocal Consulting is also the recipient of the 2018 BC Achievement Foundation Indigenous Business Award for enterprises with 3-10 people. Kim has been active in her community, serving on a number of boards including the YWCA Metro Vancouver, the Minerva Foundation Combining our Strength Council, the BC Patient Safety and Quality Council, and the BC Women’s Hospital Women’s Health Research Institute. She currently serves on the board of YWCA Canada.
