Avita Sharma
Avita Sharma, MEd, RCC, received her master’s degree in counselling psychology from the University of British Columbia and holds the designation of Registered Clinical Counsellor. She completed graduate training at McGill University in the area of chronic pain management. Avita is currently a doctoral candidate and researcher at Queen’s University in the field of rehabilitation and health.
Avita has been working with Progressive Rehab-OrionHealth for over 21 years. Her current practice includes medical legal assessment, vocational rehabilitation and psychological counselling treatment. She has a specialty interest in cross-cultural rehabilitation issues. In addition, she mentors and trains clinicians in these practice areas. She has experience working with a diverse range of individuals and across a range of diagnoses, complex injury and disabling conditions. Avita has qualified as an expert witness to the Supreme Court of British Columbia in the area of vocational rehabilitation.
Avita has been an instructor for Simon Fraser University’s Disability and Rehabilitation Management (now Vocational Rehabilitation and Disability Management) program since 2008 and served as a subject matter expert for course development. She has presented on various rehabilitation topics at workshops and conferences, and guest lectured at UBC.
