Thomas Mueller

Thomas Mueller, MA, LEED AP, has been president of the Canada Green Building Council (CaGBC) since 2005. He has been involved in sustainable resource management and planning and green building and sustainable community development for over twenty years. Prior to his role with CaGBC, he held positions in the Policy and Planning Department of Metro Vancouver where he developed demand side management programs. He created and managed the first local green building program in Canada. In his last position, he was division manager of Business and Community Services delivering sustainability programs to the private sector and community at large.

For his green building work, Thomas received the 2000 and 2002 Innovation Award from the Architectural Institute of British Columbia and the 2005 FCM-CH2MHill Sustainable Community Award.

Thomas is a founding director of the Canada Green Building Council. He also chaired the LEED BC steering committee which was responsible for the first adaptation of the LEED building rating system outside the US.

Thomas has an undergraduate degree in Geography, Planning and Applied Ecology from the Ludwig-Maximilian University in Germany and a master's degree in Regional Planning and Resource Development from the University of Waterloo.
