Hannah Herrick
Hannah Herrick is a doctoral candidate in SFU’s Department of Archaeology. Her primary interest is the investigation of ancient materials like metal, ceramics, and plaster using modern scientific techniques. Hannah’s current research focuses on the materials and methods used in the Late Bronze Age (ca. 1500 BCE) lime plaster production in southern Cyprus.
Hannah holds an MS degree in geosciences and a BS degree in anthropology, both from the University of Arizona. She has worked on archaeological projects in Sudan, Cyprus, and the American Southwest. Hannah has also worked with museums—including Harvard Art Museums and the Pergamonmuseum in Berlin—to create and illustrate colouring/activity books designed to help children and families engage with ancient artifacts and the people of the past.
When she’s not in the lab, Hannah enjoys sewing colourful patchwork quilts, snuggling with her fluffy, calico cat, Lucy Goose, and exploring the forests and beaches of the Lower Mainland.
