Byron Hauck

Byron Hauck has been an educator for 15 years specializing in transcultural communication. His research is based on ethnographic fieldwork in rural China. From this research, he has contributed knowledge on the value of listening in state-society relations, the production of temporalities from political economic decisions in media ecologies, and the role of masculinity in evaluations of local governance. Byron has also contributed to research on higher education with two co-written papers, one focusing on the challenges of sustaining a program invested in transcultural pedagogy and another on the impacts of precarious labour on parent-scholars. He is currently a lecturer with SFU’s School of Communication.
