Christina Coolidge-Woods
Christina Coolidge-Woods is Cree and Scottish Métis from Treaty Six Territory, and a member of Tsleil-Waututh Nation. Her settler background also includes a mix of Scandinavian and Jewish heritage. She was raised in the Okanogan territory of the Splatsin.
Christina is the Indigenous relations advisor for the City of New Westminster. She began her role in March 2022 and brings with her over 10 years of professional experience working in Indigenous relations. Christina leads from an Indigenous lens, educating and guiding staff in ways that align with Indigenous knowledge systems and ways of being.
Among others, Christina utilizes components of storytelling, relationship building, Two-Eyed Seeing, decolonization, indigenization, Indigenous perspectives on health and wellness, the Medicine Wheel, ReconcilACTION, cultural and historical teachings, place-making, vulnerability, reciprocity and time.
Christina’s education and experience with communications and Indigenous relations have given her a unique perspective on ethical space, and how we can all contribute to a more equitable and just society.
