Europe on the Brink: The Rise of Right-Wing Populism
Right-wing populist parties are no longer a fringe phenomenon. In many European liberal democracies, they attract strong voter support and become directly or indirectly part of governing party coalitions. Why is it that societies with long social-democratic histories, like Scandinavia, fall prey to populist promises? Is the populist wave a short-term event or does it indicate dramatic changes in modern democracies?
