Instructor named to BIV’s Forty Under 40 list
Congratulations to SFU instructor and alumnus Sasha Ramnarine on being named a recipient in Business in Vancouver’s 2023 Forty Under 40 Awards. The annual awards recognize excellence in business and community leadership.
Ramnarine teaches in the Business Management Certificate and Human Resources Management Certificate programs, drawing from his extensive business and legal background. A business lawyer with Remedios and Company, he has worked tirelessly to help entrepreneurs and small businesses succeed in B.C. and beyond. Active in the community, he has served as a board of director with the Immigrant Services Society of BC and the New Westminster Police Board, and is a director of the Surrey Board of Trade.
“Being named to the BIV Forty Under 40 list is a deeply personal and professionally validating achievement for me,” says Ramnarine. “I take immense pride in empowering and supporting entrepreneurs, helping them navigate complex legal landscapes, and witnessing their growth and success, both locally and internationally.”
For Ramnarine, the award celebrates his journey from a fledgling lawyer with limited resources to a thriving legal career that supports small businesses and startups.
“This recognition reaffirms that perseverance, dedication and the pursuit of one’s passion can lead to success, regardless of the initial challenges faced,” he says.
The award also honours Ramnarine’s work in educating aspiring leaders and business professionals at SFU Continuing Studies and SFU’s Beedie School of Business. “As an educator,” he says, “I have the privilege of imparting valuable insights to aspiring community leaders, helping shape the future of our region.”
