City Program director named one of B.C.’s most influential business leaders
Congratulations to City Program director Andy Yan on being named to the Business in Vancouver BC500 list. Published annually, the list features 500 business leaders who make a notable impact on B.C.’s communities, industries and economy. Yan was recognized in the urban planning and design category for his work on advancing knowledge on urban issues.
“It’s a great honour to be recognized on the Business in Vancouver list,” he says. “It reflects the tremendous importance for all of us to create a more sustainable and vibrant city region, and recognizes the value of lifelong learning in reaching these goals.”
Prior to joining the City Program in 2016, Yan was an urban planner and researcher whose experience extended to projects in Vancouver, San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York City and New Orleans.
His previous honours include the Planning Institute of British Columbia’s award for Leadership in Advocacy and Innovation and the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada’s Advocate for Architecture award. He also received the 2018 President’s Newsmaker Award at SFU for his ongoing appearances in local, national and international media outlets, where he shares his extensive research and insightful commentary on urban issues affecting Metro Vancouver.
