Exercise is Medicine
Are you passionate about exercise and promoting healthy living?
Join the Exercise is Medicine movement by becoming part of SFU's Exercise is Medicine Club (EIMC), a community-driven group dedicated to improving wellness through physical activity. Our mission is to foster collaborative inter-professional relationships and leadership skills among students from various disciplines, supporting the EIMC vision within the Simon Fraser Student Society (SFSS). We achieve this through educational events that highlight the diverse benefits of exercise and interactive activities that make staying active fun and engaging.
Exercise is Medicine (EIM) originated with the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology (CSEP) to promote the incorporation of exercise into daily life for better physical and mental health. This campus-focused initiative has spread to several universities across Canada, including our chapter at SFU.
We regularly host events like spikeball, hiking, and walking, with past highlights including the Grouse Grind and the Shoreline Trail at Rocky Point. Through these events, we aim to encourage students and faculty to embrace exercise as a way to not only stay fit, but to improve overall quality of life.
