Sessional: BPK 143 Exercise: Health and Performance

Lecture: Monday, 10:30-11:20; Wednesday, 10:30-11:20

Laboratory: Monday, 12:30-1:20; Wednesday 12:30-1:20, and Monday 1:30-2:20; Wednesday 1:30-2:20

Salary: $11,350, inclusive of vacation pay

Course Descriptions

Qualifications:

A graduate degree or equivalent qualification in Biomedical Physiology and Kinesiology or a related discipline together with evidence of teaching ability commensurate with the responsibility of teaching the assigned credit course and of carrying out the duties related to the effective conduct of that course. 

Additional Qualifications for BPK 143:

  • A related graduate degree or equivalent qualification in Kinesiology and evidence of teaching ability commensurate with the responsibility of teaching the assigned credit course and of carrying out the duties related to the effective conduct of that course. A practicing Kinesiologist (BCAK) or CSCS is recommended
  • Demonstrated ability/skill to coach and prescribe exercise to a healthy population
  • Demonstrated ability/skill to instruct students on fitness metric data collection
  • Demonstrated ability/skill to detect errors and correct flaws in movement biomechanics (kinematics).
  • Demonstrated ability/skill to instruct a variety of movement experiences to a large group of students (30) and ensure participation and inclusion of all levels of proficiency
  • Demonstrated ability to lecture with clarity on theoretical topics related to exercise prescription to first year undergraduates in a large classroom setting
