I am not able to gather the documents needed by IRCC before the deadline they gave me. What should I do?
If you need more time to gather the documents requested by IRCC, you should submit an explanation letter via the IRCC webform before the given deadline. In your letter, we recommend that you:
- Request an extension to the deadline imposed by IRCC to provide additional documents
- Outline the steps you are taking to get the documents IRCC requested (e.g. If IRCC asks you for an official SFU transcript and you requested it but do not have it yet, you can explain your circumstances and timeline)
- Confirm that you will submit the documents to IRCC when you get them
- Any circumstances preventing you from providing IRCC with the requested documentation (if applicable)
If you do not respond to IRCC with either (1) the requested information/documents or (2) an explanation outlining the reasons why you cannot provide the requested information/documents by the deadline, a decision will be made on your application based on the information you submitted with your original application.
