Leading innovators
SFU researchers won two of the seven B.C. Innovation Council awards presented in 2005. Chemist Mario Pinto won the Frontiers in Research award, recognizing innovative research that has led to major new advances in scientific or technological knowledge, for his groundbreaking work in developing promising new drug therapies. Computing scientist Jian Pei received the Young Innovator award for his leading edge work in data mining and knowledge discovery.
