It is important to spend significant time in a place to begin to understand it beyond its surface. In our six weeks in Italy, our aim was to see a range of the country, but to know a neighbourhood intimately. We used four bases for further exploration: Roma, Dolciano, Firenze and Milano, traveling Northward in these sections and spent considerable time in each location. We spent two weeks in Roma, one week in Dolciano, ten days in Firenze, and two weeks in Milano.
