COVID-19 resources and Rebooting the Greek Language project update
As many of us the world over continue to adjust to life under physical distancing protocols, we wanted to take a moment to let you know that we are still here for you, our community of local and international supporters. While we've had to change the way we do things, we are still working to fulfill our mandate to promote Greece's history, language and culture.
Remote operations
In order to ensure the health and safety of our faculty, staff and students we have temporarily closed our Burnaby offices. However, even though our doors are closed, the Centre is still functioning on a remote basis. You can reach us during regular business hours, by phone or email. Please visit our contact page for details.
Upcoming events
Even though we are fully behind the recommendations of our provincial health authorities' decision to suspend public gatherings, we were still very sad to cancel our remaining events for the spring semester. We plan to reschedule as soon as it's safe to so, but in the meantime we're investigating alternatives to live events. Stay tuned! We hope to have some exciting news soon.
Rebooting the Greek Language project update
Stuck at home with the kids? Our Rebooting the Greek Language team has just released episode five in their Heroes of the Disk series, about Kolokotronis' Helmet, which could buy you a bit of peace. They've also released a video called My Spring that your little ones should enjoy.
If that doesn't work, you can also download the following Greek Language learning apps in the App Store. They are completely free, thanks to the generous support of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation.
Greek for Preschool / Kindergarten
Beginners Greek for Ages 6-8 (Grade 2-4)
Beginners Greek for Ages 9+ (Grades 4-6)
