Errors and Problems

A project such as this cannot be completed without incident.  The first problem i ran into was regarding data collection.  The headaches I experienced were tremendous.  Upon using census data, I felt a great relief and could actually begin working with my project.  Determining the direction I would head was eased by the help of Stuart Ballantyne, who I will forward this assignment to with great thanks.  I feel that I have produced something that is not only academic, but also practical and interesting.

Another issue I feel I should mention, is that after troubling my professor for a copy of IDRISI for use at home, I experienced execution errors when dealing with the Database Workshop.  I'm not entirely sure what the cause was, perhaps that some modules of IDRISI are not available/accessible on that home copy.  I do, however, know that it was not a hardware issue, as my computer greatly surpasses all requirements for the software package.

I have found that using IDRISI has been a nearly flawless experience.  In comparison to ArcGIS, I find it more user friendly and more powerful.  When I wanted to accomplish specific tasks, the lessons learned from the book prepared me sufficiently.  I guess I did not learn as much about ArcGIS as I have this semester.  At the turn of the new year, I will be applying this new knowledge through a coop position with the Federal Government.  This assignment has taught me about deadlines, goals, and practical situations.

With regards to this project, I truly hope to see the Vancouver Molson Indy at whatever location is best suited, (as long as its here!).  As with racing, a finish atop the podium would be the goal, but often unforeseen obstacles get in the way of progress.  Let's hope that the Molson Indy Vancouver is as lucky as recently crowned champion Gil de Ferran!
