The Marianne and Edward Gibson Art Museum will serve SFU's academic mission by deepening knowledge and understanding through new areas of inquiry, research and learning. It will create a vibrant focal point for the arts and culture in an iconic new space that will anchor the east gateway of SFU Burnaby. The space will acknowledge visitors' different "time signatures" for engaging and create spaces for pause, rest and recharging. It will feature: 

  • An open, accessible, welcoming entrance that allow visitors to orient and circulate
  • Three large exhibition spaces to present art work
  • Learning spaces, including art studio, seminar room and outdoor learning courtyard
  • Spaces for encountering, gathering and community building
