After extensive renovations, Burnaby campus’s Diamond Alumni Centre (DAC) has reopened this summer and is available for bookings for both the SFU community and external clientele.

Funded by the provincial government's routine capital for campus maintenance, the refreshed DAC boasts numerous improvements, offering an elevated experience for all guests. Upgrades include a brand new kitchen, fully renovated washrooms and a large open space on the lower level. Lighting improvements and new audio-visual systems in all rooms enhance the overall functionality and ambiance of the venue.

Improvements to energy efficiency have reduced SFU's carbon footprint with lower energy consumption, helping to mitigate environmental impact. The HVAC system has been upgraded to a more efficient model, the heating system is now entirely electric, and air conditioning has been installed to enhance guest comfort.

In planning the refresh, SFU aimed to enhance the accessibility for all guests. A new exterior ramp connects the entry at road level to the building’s updated lobby to improve access to meeting and event areas. Accessibility upgrades also include the washrooms and the existing elevator.

By fall, the Meetings, Events and Conference Services (MECS) team will host a grand opening to welcome the community and external partners. In the mean time, contact MECS to inquire about booking the DAC this summer for your event needs.
