"eDNA technology more effective in monitoring salmon runs: SFU research"

Dr. Vicki Marlatt and Gitanyow Fisheries Authority’s head fisheries biologist, Mark Cleveland, are researching the use of Environmental DNA (eDNA) technology as a more efficient way of monitoring salmonids, as they return from the ocean to journey upriver to their natal streams to spawn.

The research is funded through Genome BC’s Sector Innovation Program, which aims to support projects that will address the needs of each key sector and have the potential to generate social, environmental and economic benefits for British Columbia in the future.
