Sessional - BISC 650 - Environmental Risk Assessment - 1247 - Burnaby Campus

The following Sessional appointment is expected to be available in the Department of Biological Sciences during the FALL SEMESTER ((August 26 to December 20, 2024).

BISC 650 ENVIRONMENTAL RISK ASSESSEMENT
SALARY  $7718.00 (inclusive of 4% vacation pay)  
Lectures 3 h/week – Times TBD

RESERVE SESSIONAL INSTRUCTOR POSITION: No
Article XIV E.3.a of the TSSU-SFU Collective Agreement allows for up to 25% of appointments within a given department to be reserved for graduate students or postdoctoral fellows. “While priority will be given to Graduate Students and Postdoctoral Fellows in awarding this RESERVED position, all Sessional Instructors are encouraged to apply. In the event it is not filled by a Grad or Postdoc, it will be filled by another qualified applicant in accordance with Article XIV E of the Collective Agreement.”

Course Description: This course emphasizes recent development in quantitative human health risk assessment and ecological effects based risk assessment of environmental chemicals.

Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in toxicology or related field. Expertise in environmental risk assessment, with at least 10 years of practical experience in both human health and ecological risk assessment. Candidate will have been a member of the Society of Contaminated Sites Approved Professionals (CSAP) of British Columbia (Risk Assessment Specialist) for 7 years or more.

Recommended Qualifications: PhD in toxicology or related field. Expertise in environmental risk assessment, with at least 10 years of practical experience in both human health and ecological risk assessment. Candidate will have been a member of the Society of Contaminated Sites Approved Professionals (CSAP) of British Columbia (Risk Assessment Specialist) for 10 years or more.
