Honouring Homeland and Her Beings: Weaving Conference 2009
Fran and Bill James are mother and son master weavers from the Lummi Nation in Washington. Born in Lummi, Fran James has been weaving for over thirty years, and is a prominent Pacific Northwest cedar and wool weaver (1). Bill James learned to weave Coast Salish style baskets from his great aunt, and subsequently was taught to weave wool at the Institute of American Indian Arts, Santa Fe New Mexico (2). The James' are beloved teachers and mentors for future generations of weavers. They honoured us with their attendence at Honouring Homeland.
