Video Game Ratings

Video Game Regulation
The Entertainment Software Rating Board is responsible for the regulation of video game content in North America. The board started assigning symbols to video games in 1994 based on age suitability. The rating is augmented with content descriptors to depict what aspects of the game have prompted specific ratings. All video games must go through the process of rating before being placed on the shelves in stores. This is a huge change from the previous decade when no such guidance was required or generally given.
