Games

To facilitate the understanding of key terminology, various definitions have been included.

Computer Game
"A game played on a computer, especially one involving graphics and operating in real time" (Oxford University Press, 2007).
A game composed of a computer-controlled virtual universe that players may interact with in order to achieve a goal (or set of goals) (Gambetta & Guelvenzu, 2006).

Video game
"A game played by electronically manipulating images displayed on a television screen" (Oxford University Press, 2007).
"A computer game where a video display is the primary feedback device" (Gambetta & Guelvenzu, 2006).

NOTE: For the purposes of this website, the use of "video games" will be used to encompass all interactive game software.

Gaming
"The playing of war-games or role-playing games" (Oxford University Press, 2007).
The manipulation or the configuration of temporal, spatial, causal and functional relations and properties in different registers (Eskelinen, 2001).
