This is a personal project I created for the song "Crazy Crazy" by Japanese artist Yasutaka Nakata. I used a combination of Adobe Illustrator and After Effects to draw and animate the graphics featured in the video.

The song is highly energetic and composed of catchy melodies and bubbly rhythms. Based on this, I chose a pastel colour palette with a vector art style to evoke the qualities of the song.
There is a certain zany and goofy quality to the song, and it felt appropriate to create a series of non-sequitur graphics to go along with the music. This keeps the visuals fresh for the viewers.
Since I worked with a wide-range of graphical elements, it was important for me to properly label my pre-comps in order to access my files easily. By staying organized, I was able to ensure an efficient work flow.
I now understand how to apply the principles of "anticipation" and "squash and stretch" to make my animation feel lively and fluid. I am also now comfortable working back and forth between Illustrator and After Effects to produce my work.
