  2. Tourism Resources: Planning, Development, Research, Consulting. An extensive list of tourism related links is included in this site: http://www.vir.com./chamonix/tourism.htm. Although not specific to ecotourism, the links in the section on sustainable development and tourism are often related.

  3. Ecotourism Information Centre - Included in this site: http://lorenz.mur.csu.edu.au/ecotour/EcoTrHme.html is a list of related research links; generally, a very useful jumping off point for ecotourism research.

  4. Ecotourism Sites on the WWW: Australian Environment Online http://www.oneworld.org.panos/panos_eco2.html. This is fully searachable gateway site which contains information on sustainable development and ecotourism in Australia. Individual sites within this gateway site provide wide range of information on best practice ecotourism, the rise and impact of ecotourism, conservation of wildlife, polices and strategies for ecotoursim, markets for nature based tourism, etc.

  5. Ecotourism Research and Other Adventures http://www.geog.umn.edu~schaller. This site is devoted to research and education about ecotoursim, ethnic tourism, nature tourism, and heritage tourism. A case study on indigenous ecotourism in the Ecuadorian Amazon is explored at one of the individual web sites. Moreover, a magazine -style article about tourism, history and irony in Skagway, Alaska, as well as travel essay from New Zealand and its natural and cultural history is presented.

  6. Exploring Ecotourism http://www.txinfinet.com/mader/ecotravel/etour.html "Exploring Tourism " archives the quarterly journal Planeta Platica which focuses on environmental tourism and news from Latin America. The site also provides environmental travel contacts, gives general background information on ecotourism, addresses specific ecotourism issues in Mexico, Honduras, Costa Rica and Equator and provides bibliography on ecotourism literature.

  1. The Rainforest Action Network. This site: http://www.ran.org/ran/info.center/ecotourism.html has a broad framework of environmental issues not strictly related to tourism. However, the set-up of this site is useful in that information is in the form of hyperlinks to specifically related sites. The ecotourism section had very good links to both societies and tour operators.

  2. The site: http://www.ecotourism.org/ is well researched, navigable, and seems to be very credible. In addition, several relevant links are included in the page.

  3. Ecotourism Information Centre. Jointly sponsored by Charles Stuart University, The Ecotourism Association of Australia and the Office of National Tourism (Australia), this site: http://lorenz.mur.csu.au/ecotour/EcoTrHme.html is particularly useful.

  4. Ecotourism Opportunities for Hawaii's Visitor Industry. This site: http://www.hawaii.gov/tourism/Eco/Eco.html includes several well referenced articles on ecotourism trends, impacts, standards and implications in Hawaii. The site is divided into information on resources, potential, public policy issues, and assessment.

  5. University of Pretoria, Centre for Ecotourism. This is a good general site: http://www.up.ac.za/science/eco/indx.htm with scope and definitions of ecotourism. The site also contains a regional ecotourism plan with strategies, phase and development criteria when implementing an ecotourism plan.

  6. Marine Resource and Environmental Management Program - University of West Indies. This site: http://www.sunbeach.net/comp/maremp/Maremp.html includes a listing of the various Masters' theses undertaken in the program. Although not all projects are ecotourism-related, the abstracts and network/contact can provide a useful research base. The listing of contacts also includes personal research interests by topic.
