Biography
Sanaz is an igneous petrologist with a specialization in geochemistry and petrogenesis of igneous rocks associated with subduction zones. With a strong focus on studying a range of plutonic and volcanic rocks, her research expertise includes a thorough understanding of SHRIMP (Sensitive High-Resolution Ion Micro-Probe) and TIMS (Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometry) instruments, which she has utilized at the Scientific Instrumentation Center, University of Granada, Spain. Her research employs a range of geochemical data including mineral chemistry, whole rock and isotopic analysis, as petrogenetic markers, to unravel the intricate petrogenesis stories behind the potentially hazardous volcanic eruptions in British Columbia, Canada.
As a former Assistant Professor with over 10 years of experience in geoscience and interdisciplinary teaching, she is passionate about designing inclusive and learner-centered educational experiences in higher education in the field of Earth sciences.
