CAMPUS SAFETY & SECURITY AT SFU
At SFU, we pride ourselves on our safe campuses. Metro Vancouver is also relatively safe compared to other large cities around the world. Even so, if you're new to Canada, you should be aware that safety here may be different from in your home country. It is critical to familiarize yourself with emergency procedures and pay attention to basic guidelines for your personal safety and the security of your possessions.
SFU Campus Safety & Security offers services including keys, lost and found, road conditions, parking, bear alerts, a safewalk program and a list of safety tips. They say that the most frequent crime on campus is theft.
If you are off campus and need the police, fire department or an ambulance, call 911. This is a free call from any telephone.
The police in Canada are there to help keep people safe and uphold the law. Contact them if there is an accident, if someone has stolen from you or hurt you, if you witness a crime, or if someone you know has gone missing.
