MAKE SCIENCE HAPPEN IN Molecular Biology & Biochemistry

You want to conduct life-saving cancer research. Or analyze people’s ancestry through DNA. Counsel patients on the results of their genetic tests. Work in food safety, or run your own pharmacy in Burnaby. You haven’t yet … but you can. Whatever your passion is, find a solid path to it here.

GET GOING WITH MOLECULAR BIOLOGY & BIOCHEMISTRY

MBB provides a broad and rigorous foundation in the life sciences through theoretical and experiential learning in the areas of molecular biology, molecular genetics, cell biology, biochemistry, structural biology, bioinformatics, genomics, infection and immunity. You can explore how life works at the atomic, molecular and cellular levels and address pressing questions such as “How does a mutation cause a disease?” “How does the body fight infection?” and “What is the origin of life itself?”.

MAKE PASSIONS CONNECT WITH PURPOSE IN SCIENCE

You’re not researching cancer treatments yet…

Start with a major in

Molecular Biology & Biochemistry OR a joint major in Molecular Biology & Biochemistry and Chemistry

And a co-op placement at

BC Cancer Agency

Find your purpose as a(n)

Biochemist, biomedical researcher, forensic biotechnologist, laboratory technician, molecular biologist

“A lot of other universities don’t offer both molecular biology and biochemistry as one major. At SFU, I can take one major and I can have exposure to both disciplines. There’s also a lot of great professors and a lot of experiences you can get involved in such as research opportunities through co-op.”
