Field Collecting Trip on Lasqueti Island

Journal by Menzies and Draycot, 1944

This short report summarizes a visit to Xwe’etay/Lasqueti in 1944 by T.P.O. Menzies (curator at the Vancouver City Museum) and W.M.L. Draycot (geologist and historian). While mostly focused on observations about the island community, the account also provides some information about the nature and extent of the archaeological record at the time of publication.

Be advised that the publication describes accounts of Indigenous heritage destruction, including the disturbance and desecration of ancestral burial grounds.
