Biography

My research is focused on ocean acidification, specifically, nearshore carbonate chemistry in the Canadian portion of the Salish Sea. I am investigating the seasonal and daily variability in carbonate chemistry at several shellfish leases and aim to identify the drivers of this variability. I am also investigating how carbonate conditions vary with salinity and aim to identify hotspots of acidification (the minimum buffer zone). My aim is to provide shellfish growers with the information they need to adapt their practices to prevent mortality due to unfavourable carbonate conditions and ocean acidification. I am also conducting a vulnerability assessment of BC communities to the threat of ocean acidification to the shellfish industry.
