Martin Pochurko set to retire, February 2025
Martin Pochurko has announced his decision to retire from SFU, effective February 7, 2025.
Martin has served at SFU twice, totaling nearly 14 years, most recently nine years as Vice-President, Finance and Administration. Martin led a large team that supports the people of SFU through services such as ITS, Finance, Ancillary Services, Facilities and Safety and Risk Services. The VPFA team has made significant contributions to achieving SFU’s vision under Martin’s leadership, most notably their deep and comprehensive work toward sustainability and the multi-year student housing strategy. The VPFA team also works hard every day on the issues that don’t get a lot of attention, from safety on campus to cyber-attacks. During Martin’s tenure SFU has continued strong financial performance, reflected in investments valued at over $1 Billion.
Martin has been a pleasure to work with and a valued member of the executive team. I have heard him say often that it was the people of SFU that made him come back a second time. He will be missed, and we are grateful for all he has done for SFU.
A search for Martin’s replacement will be announced in the coming weeks. It is our intention to fill the role prior to Martin’s departure to ensure a careful transition.
Sincerely,
Joy Johnson
