MPP Grad Student Caucus
The MPP Caucus is the chapter of the Graduate Student Society for the MPP program. Caucus meets monthly to discuss and plan social and academic events and fundraising activities, as well as other matters concerning MPP students. The MPP Caucus is a great way to meet new friends and to interact with experienced MPP students and the general SFU community. All MPP students are members of the Caucus and can vote during elections and monthly meetings.
An introductory meeting is held each year for the new cohort, where students are elected to the positions of Treasurer, Secretary and Graduate Student Society Representative. MPP Caucus Co-Chairs are elected in the final meeting of the Spring semester. Students can nominate themselves or others for these positions, and while second year students are eligible, first year students are strongly encouraged to apply. Holding a position on Caucus is a great way to contribute to student life at the School of Public Policy and to network with students and faculty.
Caucus co-chairs for 2024/25 are Ravneet Dhaliwal and Serena Wong.
Contact them with your questions or concerns via email (Ravneet) rkd28@sfu.ca and (Serena) sww16@sfu.ca.
The Caucus is a subunit of the Graduate Student Society (GSS). Each program has a representative on the GSS Council, which works to advocate the interests of graduate students, organize student events, support special grad student activities, cooperate with other student and campus organizations, and provide services such as the Health and Dental Benefit Plan, a free Legal Clinic and the services of an Ombudsperson.
MPP Caucus is a great way to meet new friends and to interact with experienced MPP students and the general SFU public at large. Joining the Caucus is easy; an introductory meeting is held every year for the new cohort. Institutional knowledge is passed down throughout the year. Various seats and positions are available to get you involved and to help you pad your resume. Make joining the MPP Caucus your first official act when accepted to the program!
