Applying intersectional approaches to pandemic preparedness and response

The Advancing Equity-Based Pandemic Preparedness Through Intersectional Analysis project was funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research Catalyst Grant: CPHO’s Report 2021 - Future of Public Health. The project aims to draw on learnings from the COVID-19 response to better understand public policy opportunities and challenges related to mitigating the unequal effects of health crises in Canada and to develop guidance tools for integrating intersectional analysis into pandemic preparedness. Knowledge users on the grant include representatives from the Public Health Agency of Canada and Women and Gender Equality Canada.

This project builds off of previous work of the Gender and COVID-19 project funded by the Canadian Institute of Health Research and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, including Dr. Smith's book Conscripted to Care.
