SFU Physics congratulates Zhihua (Zhi) Han on winning first place in the oral competition in the Division of Quantum Information (DQI) at the 2024 CAP Congress in London, Ontario.

He also received an honorable mention among all CAP division award finalists. The judges praised Zhi's talk, "Downloading many-body continuous variable entanglement to qubits,”  for its topical interest and Zhi’s innovative use of animations in illustrating a highly mathematical topic. SFU faculty member Daria Ahrensmeier, the inaugural Chair of the DQI, notes that "Zhi won against strong competition from across Canada—all the student competitors delivered high quality talks, including Pak-Tik Fong and Ruchir Tullu, also from SFU Physics.” Zhi is currently pursuing his MSc at SFU with Kero Lau, Canada Research Chair in Quantum Information Science.
