Physics Teacher’s Workshop at SFU
The Department of Physics hosted a Pro-D Day event for secondary school teachers on February 24th. This event was led by SFU Physics lecturer Dr. Simin Bagheri Najmi in collaboration with BC Association of Physics Teachers (BCAPT) organizers Michael Harder, Louay El Halabi and Paul Cheng.
The workshop featured talks by SFU Physics professors Matthias Danninger and Nancy Forde on neutrinos and protein motors, respectively, as well as a presentation by current undergraduate students, Kye Emond and Michael Plunkett, on their experience studying Physics at SFU. After lunch, the teachers got a tour of the Trottier Observatory. This event was free for student-teachers who aspire to become science teachers and provided a great opportunity for them to meet with Physics colleagues early in their career.
