Dr. Pogosian's research on relieving the Hubble tension
SFU Physics Professor Dr. Levon Pogosian's recent paper on how primordial magnetic fields can help to resolve one of cosmology's greatest puzzles was featured in Quanta Magazine. The puzzle concerns the apparent disagreement on the value of the Hubble constant, or how fast the universe is expanding today, determined using different astronomical observations. The SFU cosmologist's paper in collaboration with Dr. Karsten Jedamzik from the Universite de Montpellier “Relieving the Hubble tension with primordial magnetic fields” shows that accounting for the magnetic fields in the early universe can help to reconcile the difference. Their work is featured in an in-depth Quanta article “The Hidden Magnetic Universe Begins to Come Into View”.
