Synopsis
Topology is a recurring theme in condensed matter physics. Topological properties can be found in topological quantum phase transitions, topological insulators, majorana fermions, topological classification of superconductors, and topological quantum computing. This talk is a short introduction to topology in condensed matter, focusing on its origins, examples of how topology can manifest in physical systems, and possible implications for quantum computing.
