Synopsis
I will first briefly describe my research activities at SD Mines. I will then present a research effort to tackle technical challenges facing the so-called “beyond Li-ion” lithium-sulfur (L-S) batteries. I will discuss how comprehensive analytical and electrochemical characterizations help identify the formation of multi-phase sulfurized polyacrylonitrile (SPAN) samples prepared under different synthesis conditions and understand their impact on Li-S battery performance.
