Synopsis
The observation of neutrino oscillations implies that neutrinos have mass, which is in direct contradiction with the standard model. The Karlsruhe Tritium Neutrino (KATRIN) experiment has recently released new upper bounds on the neutrino mass scale, after the first few weeks of data runs. I will explain how they collected this data and ran the analysis, then discuss the future of these measurements in a broader context.
