Synopsis
As a solution to various gravitational phenomena, dark matter has become an increasingly sought after form of matter. Various particle candidates for dark matter have been proposed, such as weakly interacting massive particles, sterile neutrinos, and primordial black holes. One candidate, the axion, could in turn act as dark matter and solve the strong CP problem of quantum chromodynamics. Methods to detect axions attempt to probe the axion-photon conversion in different scenarios.
